Bossca Observatory, Bandung. Watercolor and ink on Maruman paper. Done in 15 minutes on location. I’ve drawn the exterior part of this unusual building several times now, so I was actually looking forward to drawn the interior on this visit. Unfortunately not possible due to the short visiting window.

‘Semarang after the rain’, details. The random highlight effect on the reflection was achieved by (vigorously) rubbing candlesticks on the paper. #painting #watercolor #indonesia #semarang #rainyday #montval #danielsmith

“Oldtown Semarang after the rain”. 80X100cm. Watercolor on 300gsm Montval paper. Some unfinished area but I’ll consider it done. Haven’t had a good sleep for a week thanks to this work, lost the mood, and I’ve overdone it anyway. #watercolor #indonesia #semarang #blendukchurch #issw2016 #danielsmith #montval

Blenduk Church, Semarang – Indonesia. Third stage. The dark wall on the right side is done. I’m going to darken the left side as well, to create more contrast with the pale church in the background. And finally, the hardest part: reflections on the pavement, made complex by varioua lighting source with different color temperatures. I’m not really confident about it. #watercolour #indonesia #semarang #kotalama #blendukchurch #danielsmith #montval
